BSPP Male

Metric Heavy Male

• Standard: DIN 3852-1 / ISO 9974-1
• Thread Type: Parallel
• Common Sizes: M12x1.5 to M52x2.0
• Used in: High-pressure hydraulic systems, especially in European equipment

Parallel threads like BSPP and Metric Heavy do not seal via the threads. Instead, sealing is achieved through:

1. O-ring with Retaining Ring

   • O-ring sits on the spot face of the port
   • Retaining ring traps the O-ring between fitting hex and port face
     
     

2. Bonded Seal (Dowty Washer)

   • Combines a rubber O-ring bonded to a metal washer
   • Common for BSPP threads
     
     

3. Copper Washer

   • Used in high-temperature applications

4. ED Seal / P-Flex Seal

   • Elastomeric seal in a precision groove on the fitting hex
     
     

5. Cutting Face Seal

   • Metal-to-metal seal via a sharp edge on the fitting face

Pressure Ratings

• Metric Heavy Series (DIN 2353 S Series):

  • Designed for high-pressure applications
  • Pressure ratings vary by size and material, typically up to 6000 psi (420 bar)
    
    

• BSPP Adaptors:

  • Pressure depends on sealing method and material
  • With bonded seals or O-rings, can handle up to 8700–12000 psi (600–830 bar) for smaller sizes
